2013 Interior Design Trends
We do our best to keep our ears and eyes open for the latest interior design trends. 2013 has proven that there are shifts in the ideals that drive interior design. Although some trends continue, such as the use of color…just differing color palettes, there are some surprising trends this year.
Pantone has announced that its Color of the Year for 2013 is Emerald. PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald to be exact. The deep rich hue of this green is a stark contrast from last year’s bright, cheery color trend. Some colors that accent the emerald are eggplant and burnt orange.
Emeral green can bring a splash of richness to typically subdued interior color combinations.
Texture is making a big impact in 2013. It could be fabric or furniture, window shades or wallpaper. Interior designers are mixing medias to create interiors that deliver a sensation to our fingertips and not just our eyes. The limitless combinations of textures for interior design will make this a trend that will continue into next year as a huge element in design.
Bold patterns are used to bring more personality to interior design projects. The patterns can be used on wallpaper, window shades, drapes, flooring and accessories. Patterns can be geometric or even botanical in nature.
